Kvaka 22 Art Space
Artist-run space focusing on young artists, dialogue, and interdisciplinary projects (new location).
“Kvaka” is “catch” in Serbian, therefore “Kvaka 22” is “Catch 22”. // (“Door Handle 22”)
Kvaka 22 is an alternative art space in Belgrade’s Ruzveltova 39, named after the 22 missing door handles found when artists took over the abandoned building. Founded by a collective of seven artists, this vibrant cultural hub serves as a platform for various artistic projects, educational workshops, and creative exchanges. The space features a unique museum with Yugoslav-era artifacts, creating a fascinating contrast with contemporary exhibitions. Beyond visual arts, Kvaka 22 hosts concerts, DJ performances, and community gatherings, establishing itself as a vital node in Belgrade’s alternative cultural network. The eclectic interior, furnished with collected vintage pieces, mirrors the space’s bohemian spirit.
