Student Cultural Center (SKC) Gallery
Gallery within the Student Cultural Center, focused on student and alternative art.
Founded in 1971 in the former Officers’ Club building, the SKC Gallery emerged as Belgrade’s experimental art epicenter following the 1968 student demonstrations. Often viewed as the communist regime’s concession to youth, it quickly became a vanguard for artistic innovation. The gallery made history in the 1970s with groundbreaking exhibitions like “The Examples of Conceptual Art in Yugoslavia” and “Drangularijum” (collection of curious trinkets). Under various directors, SKC fostered conceptual art movements that challenged traditional practices. Today, the gallery continues its legacy of artistic experimentation, hosting a diverse program of visual arts exhibitions while maintaining its historical significance in Belgrade’s cultural scene.
