Centar za likovno obrazovanje Šumatovačka
Educational center with gallery space, often showing student work.
Established in 1948 as the “Course for Drawing and Sculpture,” Centar za likovno obrazovanje Šumatovačka has evolved into one of Belgrade’s oldest and most respected cultural institutions. Located at Šumatovačka 122 in the Vračar district, the center takes its popular name from the street it occupies. Originally founded as a continuation of the “School on Air” established by Ignjat Popović in 1931, Šumatovačka has maintained its educational mission for over seven decades. Recognized as an institution of special significance for Belgrade, the center offers comprehensive art education programs while also functioning as an exhibition space that showcases student works and professional artists. Through its long history, Šumatovačka has nurtured generations of Serbian artists, making it a cornerstone of Belgrade’s cultural education landscape.
